91APP (stock code: 6741), the first SaaS company in Taiwan, held the fist large-scale recruitment events, not only offering an annual salary of NT$2 million, but also providing substantially better employment packages than their peers. This, in response to the fast-growing business needs which have presented themselves since the outbreak of the Covid 19 epidemic. Ho Ying-Chi, the chairman of 91APP, declared, “The demand for high-level talent is unlimited!”.

The success of the 91APP has been affirmed by the capital market since its listing at the end of May. After listing on the e-commerce sector, it had a market cap of more than NT$40 billion in just one month. According to Ho Ying-Chi, unlike the proverbial “unicorns” so well known in the industry, 91APP is a Taiwanese “Black Bear”. It shall perforce secure a foothold in the Taiwanese retail market, and then look internationally to expand overseas.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, brick and mortar retailers have suffered unprecedented losses. However, 91APP’s unique OMO solution can help brick and mortar retailers complete the three keys required for digital transformation: e-commerce, service, and store clerk. This not only allows 91APP’s customers to conduct business from their own homes through

e-commerce during the third-level epidemic lockdown period, but also further confirms the next evolution of the retail industry. Brick and mortar retailers will be fully integrated with  e-commerce.

In order to respond to the huge business needs driven by the OMO wave, 91APP has opened many special positions, including those of product managers, software architects, back-end engineers, cross-border marketing experts, agency operations experts, growth hackers, digital advertising optimizers, data analysts, and customer consultants. In addition, as 91APP is actively expanding into overseas markets in Japan and Southeast Asia, (such as Malaysia and Thailand), the demand to recruit international talent has become essential.

Compared to traditional e-commerce, individuals employed within the field of OMO must not only exhibit digital capabilities, but also a commanding knowledge of the retail ecology. At the same time, they must also have the ability to integrate and reorganize different platforms of knowledge. 91APP’s customers consist mainly of mid-to-large scale and well-known retail brands in both domestic and overseas markets. As such, adopting the SaaS model, it is very difficult to work closely with customers to assist in achieving sales performance and optimizing the organizational structure. For product managers and software engineers, the ability to think out of the box, to assess and improve upon individual needs of transformation and upgrading are essential traits.

Since outstanding OMO talent is as rare as the Taiwanese black bear, the commensurate salary is naturally higher than that typically offered in the industry. Yang Ming-Fang, general manager of 91APP, notes that the fixed salary of a 91APP senior executive ranks in the top 25% compared with the same position in the industry. Young talent, typically around the age of 30, being able to demonstrate ability and determination, may also have the opportunity to fulfill important positions in the company, with an annual salary of at least NT$2 million. The company ranks with TSMC and other semiconductor companies, providing employee stock options, allotment plan, as well as other benefits. Looking at Taiwan’s e-commerce and software industries, our company offers a competitive compensation package.

Ho Ying-Chi commented that TSMC relied on solid business management and talent cultivation to build the world’s best semiconductors. Although 91APP has just started, it also demonstrates the same determination as TSMC. It offers a better than industry standard salary package, employee stock options and allotment plan. Over the next few years, in order to attract outstanding talent, it will become the best Taiwan’s software industry. As Ho Ying-Chi has proclaimed, “If you haven’t yet taken the time to consider TSMC, don’t miss the opportunity to join 91APP!”
